Clean, accurate scores and parts are essential for efficient use of your session time. Time spent answering questions about the notation means less time for rehearsal and recording of your music. Please follow the guidelines below when preparing your notation files for Virtual Sessions.

Format both score and parts for A4 paper size (8.27 x 11.69). DO NOT USE LEGAL SIZE. Both score and parts will be printed at this page size, however conductor scores will be enlarged on a photocopier.

Leave a MINIMUM of 1/2 inch white space on all four edges of the page, otherwise portions of the music may be clipped when the page is printed on A4 paper.

Don't restrict conductor scores to only four bars per page if the music density permits more. This will reduce the number of page turns for the conductor.

Put a tempo indication on the score so the conductor knows the desired tempo. This is useful even if you will be recording with click track.

All parts must have initial dynamic markings.

Cue lines are recommended if a player has long tacet sections.

If your score does not use a key signature, remove the key signatures that result from automatic transposition of the instrument parts.

Correct the spelling of notes in instrument parts that have been automatically transposed by your notation program.

Number every measure on the score and parts.

Include Tacet sheets for all instruments that are not used in a cue.

Use a consistent naming format for the music files, for example 1m1-score.pdf or 1m1-oboe.pdf. Use consistent instrument names as well (e.g. Vc or cello, but not both).

Notation files should be submitted in PDF format. Please avoid using special fonts (those not included in the standard MacOS set) in your music as they may not render correctly when the PDF files are printed. Your music files must be uploaded to our FTP site 48 hours prior to the session. If you have booked one of our new TV recording packages, music files are required only one day before the session.
